The pick up starts between 8 and 9 am depending on your hotel on board of impressive open-air trucks. During the ride professional guides will educate you about the city and the country in general.

First stop will be at a typical Dominican Ranch where you will have the chance to experience some horseback riding in the countryside and visit a cigar shop, learning about the production and the making of local cigars.

Now it’s time to move to Higuey where you will approach the Higüey Basilica. Devotees from every corner of the country flock this awe-inspiring shrine. (Bear in mind the tour includes only the visit from the outside. If you wanna visit the church inside you'll have to leave a small offer at the door). Later you will visit the local public market surrounded by endless new tastes, smells, sights, and sounds. Have your camera ready! The local market offers better prices than the classic supermarkets so for low-income families is the place to go to buy food, clothes, etc.

Afterwards, you will head  to Paraiso Ranch, in the Anamuya Mountain, where you will enjoy a typical Dominican lunch and relax in a refreshing river, close to it.

In the afternoon you will visit first a typical Dominican house, learn about when it was built and spend some time with the welcoming and
modest family that lives there. The guide will explain how they live and how they prepare their meals in a firewood stove. Next you will start the plantation tour. It presents 500 square meters of different plants, especially coffee and cocoa, besides tobacco, pineapple, sugarcane, papaya, plantains, corn and others. Stop at several places and the guides will teach you about history, culture and the fabrication process of numerous products.

The plantation is simply great with so many different samples to try! You will end the plantation tour at a grocery store where different organic products will be offered to buy at very affordable prices. After leaving the plantation you will pass through many different local villages and you will stop in front of an elementary school and learn a bit about the Dominican school system. (You don’t tour the school inside in this excursion, but you can arrange to give a donation directly to the director of the school, if you prepare ahead of time and bring the stuff with you).

Last stop – Macao Beach! A visit to the Macao Beach is mandatory! Enjoy a spectacular view and relax in the sun before heading back to your hotel. You can swim as well but in case be already in your swimsuit, because there is no place to change at the beach.
