It is a solemn place, with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Eternal Flame.

For the tourist, however, the Arc de Triomphe is a splendid monument. It is indeed monumental, in both size and decors, and it warrants a visit. The best place to enjoy the Arch is at the very top, on the terrace, which affords spectacular views over the city. You can see the entire city, with an unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower.
