On this tour an experienced guide will lead you to the wildly beautiful East side of Bonaire. Often missed by tourists, the east side of the island has breathtaking views of crashing waves hitting the rocky coast, cliff-like cave corals, “bocas” or mouths of the sea, and unobstructed views. Numerous boats ship-wrecked on this side of the island before a lighthouse was put in place and there’s proof that at one point native Indians inhabited some of the cliff coves.
Your guide will take you to one such cove and show you Indian inscriptions that are believed to be markings of the Arawark Indians. They have been dated back to at least the 15th century.
Our next stop will be Boca Onima where you can feel the power of the waves surging against Bonaire’s shore and view the wind turbines that play a crucial role in supplying energy to the land. Just be sure to hold on to your hat!
Throughout this journey, your guide will be pointing out nature, history and telling you about Bonaire culture. You will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and explore.
Cruise Passengers: We will start our tour at the Cruise Ship Port and will meet you 15 minutes prior to your tour departure. When you exit your ship, walk to the security gate (there will be only one security gate) and straight ahead you will see a sign that says "INTERNET BOOKING". Someone from our group will be waiting for you there with your name on a sign board.
Non-Cruise Passengers: We will pick you up at your accommodation. Please be ready to depart 15-30 minutes PRIOR to the start time of your tour.
At the start of the tour we will tell you a little bit about the downtown area of Kralendijk.
Downtown Kralendijk consists of a few streets and is easily walkable. Kaya Grandi is the Main Street where you will find most shops, restaurants, and cafes. After the tour we can drop you off in the center if you would like to do some shopping and walk around. If you're from a cruise, the ship port is less than a 5 minute walk from the center downtown district and you will easily be able to see and walk back to your ship before departure.
Small signposts direct the way to the Indian inscriptions found on a 3-foot limestone ledge that juts out like a partially formed cave entrance. Look up to see the red-stained designs and symbols inscribed on the limestone, said to have been the handiwork of the Arawak Indians when they inhabited the island centuries ago. The pictographs date back at least to the 15th century.

Before the Tour:
Hotel or apartment guests: Please provide us with your hotel or apartment's name and address. If you are staying at a hotel, please meet your guide 15 minutes before the start time of your activity at the reception or lobby.
Cruise Ship guests: All tours operate on Bonaire's local time. Your guide will greet you 15 minutes before the start of your tour in front of the cruise ship exit/entry gate where your ship is docked, holding a sign with your name. When you leave your boat, you will approach a security checkpoint gate. As you exit the gate, walk straight forward, and you will see your guide waiting for you in front of the security gate. Please wait for your guide at the top of the stairs. Since Bonaire has two cruise ship ports and port changes can happen at the last moment, let us know the name of your ship, and we will be waiting for you.
Please Note: If your tour starts at 08:30 local time, your guide will pick you up 15 minutes (08:15) before the start of your tour.
Very IMPORTANT: All tours operate on Bonaire's local time. Your cruise ship’s time may differ from the current local time. Please double-check with your ship personnel to ensure you arrive for your tour on time. If you don't see your guide with your name, please remain at the gate of your ship and do not walk away. Let the tour guide look for you.
We GUARANTEE to have you BACK TO THE SHIP prior to the ship’s departure time.
This is a small group guided tour of up to 10 people per vehicle. Depending on the number of guests, you will be in a shared van, car, or pick-up.
Our goal is for you to leave the Island happier than when you arrived.
