Description

On this tour, you will experience Bonaire's Donkey Sanctuary - a habitat that was created to rescue donkeys needing extra care, food, and water. You will interact with the donkeys throughout the drive as they regularly "say hello" and attempt to put their noses through the car window! At the sanctuary, you can also purchase a few carrots to feed a few lucky donkeys while on your visit.

At the sanctuary, you will also see a few other things. The Special Care Unit is an area of the sanctuary where we will learn about the services provided to bring a distressed donkey back to health. You can also visit the garden where you will see local plants, tortoises, and iguanas.

Climbing up the watchtower will give you a great view of the entire sanctuary and a nice photo opportunity. We'll round out our visit with a refreshing drink from the terrace where you can spot some beautiful pink flamingos over the salt lake.

Itinerary

1) Starting Point : The Cruis Ship Port or your hotel/ apartment

Cruise Ship Passengers: We will start our tour at the Cruise Ship Port and will meet you 15 minutes prior to your tour departure. When you exit your ship, walk to the security gate (there will be only one security gate) and straight ahead you will see a sign that says, "INTERNET BOOKING". Someone from our team will be waiting for you there with your name on a sign.

2) Kralendijk Bonaire Town Tour

At the start of the tour, we will tell you about the downtown area of Kralendijk.

Downtown Kralendijk consists of a few streets and is easily walkable. Kaya Grandi is the Main Street where you will find most shops, restaurants, and cafes. After the tour, we can drop you off in the centre if you would like to do some shopping and walk around. If you're from a cruise, the ship port is about a 5-minute walk from the downtown district, and you will easily be able to see and walk back to your ship before departure.

3) Donkey Sanctuary

The primary objective of Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire is to offer a sheltered, protected life to all the donkeys of Bonaire.

This will be our last pointof interest,  while driving back to downtown we encourage you to ask questions and we will share more about the island
